Stem Week in Green Class

During Stem week, Green class enjoyed bubble painting, volcano explosions, symmetry and weighing and measuring. We used the smart board to create a story map of the three little pigs using technology.

Apple Class Library Visit

Apple class visited Horfield library as part of our topic on the local area. We explored the resources on offer and shared a story with the librarian. A great time was had by all, though we were very tired at the end of the day!

Red Class visit to Horfield Library

Red class visited Horfield Library as part of the topic ‘Lets go for a walk’ The children listened to the Librarian talk about how a Library works and we also had the chance to hear a story. The children enjoyed looking around, reading books and colouring. We all took a membership leaflet home as lots of children showed great interest in joining and returning there again!

Cloud the chicken visits Reception

St Werburgh City farm brought their chicken, called Cloud, to visit Reception classes. They have given us some fertilised eggs to look after for 2-3 weeks to see if they will hatch into chicks. Some children had the chance to hold the freshly laid eggs and to also give Cloud a stroke. It will be so exciting for the children to watch the changes occurring and eventually see the eggs hatch into chicks – fingers crossed!

Green Class visit to Tesco

As part of our topic, ‘Lets go for a walk’ the children have been learning about their environment and local community. We walked to Tesco on Filton Avenue, the children were given some money to spend and they had to make a healthy choice. The other photos show the children returning to school, sat on the carpet sharing out and eating the food they purchased.

It was lots of fun!

Settling in …

Our new reception children have taken to their new classes like ducklings to water, we are very proud of the way they have settled in, with happy smiling faces and supportive parents.  The children have been learning each others’ names and exploring the school environment.  The children have shown great independence at dinner time enjoying a new dining experience.  A big thank you to the parents and carers for getting your children ‘school ready’ 😊.
